Hailing from the birthplace of dance music, Chicago’s Lee Foss has kept the sound of his hometown alive with his slick, club-ready house productions. Besides his solo work, Foss also stands as head of his imprint Hot Creations that boasts releases from MK, Jamie Jones, Clockwork, and more. He also plays 1/4 of house band Hot Natured, alongside Jamie Jones, Alilove, Luca C, and Anabel Englund.
Anabel Englund (Live)
Notable for her work as the leading lady of Hot Natured, Englund has made a name for herself as one of dance music’s most identifiable vocalists. The 22-year-old singer, songwriter, and model, boasts a roster of hits with Hot Natured and MK included “Reverse Skydiving” and “Electricity,” and also adds a critically acclaimed live component to Hot Natured’s DJ sets. Keep an ear out for Englund in the upcoming months as she gears up for the release of her debut solo album out on Thee Six Zero.
Parisian producer Shiba San boasts over 15 years in the business, so it comes as no surprise that he was recruited by Claude VonStroke’s notorious dance label Dirtybird Records. 2014 has been a whirlwind for the producer thanks to runaway hit “Okay” that is nearing one million plays on Youtube, and has found itself one of the go to riot-starters for DJs across the globe.
NYC’s Sweaterbeats has garnered quite the buzz around his electro/r&b fusion this year thanks to a guest mix on the Diplo & Friends radio show, features from BBC Radio 1’s Annie Mac, and knock out performances at a number of festivals, most recently HARD Day Of The Dead. He’s now been scouted by burgeoning label HW&W, the masterminds that launched the career of Kaytranada and Stwo, for the release of his second EP, Cloud City.
Calling himself a “seeker of un-earthed sounds,” Oakland CA’s Thriftworks has caught our ear with his expansive collection of genre-defying beats. His sonic collection pulls samples and influence from everything from ethnic rhythms, Japanese Koto music, and anything intrinsically weird. After a year playing festivals like Electric Forest, and hitting the road on tours with Bassnectar and Mimosa, Thriftworks is gearing up for his biggest year yet, and it all kicks off at Time And Space.
Versatility is Oakland, CA’s claim to fame as his diverse tastemaking selections are notorious for being unpredictable and ingeniously mixed. His productions range anywhere from club bangers to downtempo dream tracks with etheral melodies, leaving sonic treats to appease everyone’s taste. We’re not sure where Gladkills aural journey will take us this New Years, but we know we’re in for quite a ride.
