This Friday Mutual Dreaming touches down for a rare loft party of ferocious acidic mayhem from the past & future of techno’s mutant strains…
Having witnessed him at Berghain & Concrete, we can’t wait to present the NYC debut of Detroit’s DJ Stingray, an artist who’s spent decades pushing high velocity futurism. As the official DJ of UNDERGROUND RESISTANCE’s Drexciya, Stingray helped bring to life their mythology of an underwater society descended from slaves who leapt from ships crossing the Middle Passage, a hallucinatory soundworld of interlocking funk with machinic precision, sticky arpeggios, haunting vocals and crisp snares. In addition to his solo work, he was the founding member of the Urban Tribe along with Carl Craig, Moodymann and Shake Shakir. His virtuosic DJ sets go well beyond this legacy, promising a uniquely thrilling journey through plasmoid techno at breakneck BPMs.
New York’s Phil Moffa has emerged with powerful releases on Anthony Parasole’s The Corner. Representing a newer side of headspinning Jeff Millsian’s modernism, his full-throttle hardware live sets are precision-honed adrenaline workouts. L.I.E.S. / Trilogy Tapes affiliate Vereker embodies the feral, punk side of dance music and will close the night. Last time he blew us away with an incendiary set spanning dark Birmingham techno, UR & ghetto house at one of our favorite MDs ever. Resident Aurora Halal begins with a shadowy extended warmup.
