This week’s special guest is thee legendary PHAST PHREDDIE THEEE BOOGALOO OMNIBUS! Though New Yorkers may know PHREDDIE for famous parties like SUBWAY SOUL and WANG DANG DOODLE, he first became known to the world as the publisher/editor/writer/brain behind Los Angeles’ seminal “BACK DOOR MAN” zine – which started one year before “PUNK MAGAZINE” and changed the way that people thought about music out west and far beyond. If you’ve read THE RUNAWAYS bio “QUEENS OF NOISE”, or the BLACK FLAG bio “SPRAY PAINT THE WALLS”, or the l.a. punk history “WE’vE GOT THE NEUTRON BOMB” or know anything about his friend and prodigy GUN CLUB leader JEFFREY LEE PIERCE, you have an idea of Phreddie’s place in culture. He also worked at RHINO RECORDS, wrote for canonical publications like SLASH, NEW YORK ROCKER, and ROCK SCENE, was the leader of PHAST PHREDDIE AND THE PRECISIONS, and while he still paints, writes poetry, does archival work, dresses snazzy and throws parties, PHREDDIE is best known to New York Night Train as the killer DJ who when we’re lucky throws down his unique dance 45s at our parties!
