Remember that song?
Things are different now. We live in a time where everybody is always searching for the next big sound, the next incoming trend or whatever gains them cool points. When a song stops being blogged about, or leaves your News Feed, or stops playing on Spotify you might not ever think about it ever again.
But the thing is: we remember. It wasn’t really all that long ago when Ladytron was actually relevant; when DJs played more than one Human League song over and over again. It was essentially yesterday when Junior Senior, Annie, Muscles and !!! made people freak out because the songs were fantastic. Metric, The Rapture and Fischerspooner all generated puddles of dance floor sweat once upon a time; why can’t those songs do that again? And does anybody remember when Jacques Lu Cont wasn’t always confused with Jacques Cousteau?
But there are always new gems: the Breakbots, the Pure Bathing Cultures, the RACs that emerge on the regular. We dig those things too, and we’ll play plenty of them alongside the gems that remind us of being reckless without the purview of floor-to-ceiling windows covering all of Williamsburg.
Let’s get sweaty.
