We’ve been silent for a while on our newsletters, even though we’ve been keeping up with the site regularly. This should newsletter should find us getting back into a regular groove, and with spring in full force, there’s more dancing going on than ever, so we have lots to tell you about. We’ll have some more cool news next week, but for now here’s more parties than you can shake a stick at… Oh and remember, if you’re looking for somewhere to go dancing, the website is always the most up to date, or you can follow us on Twitter or Facebook for updates as well.

RELEASE the BEAST
The beast is back for another installment to get your motor running. DJs Brian Blackout & Doctor Mister will be doling out the jams of every shape and color – soul, funk, psych, glam, rock, and muscly armed disco. All within the loving embrace of the Grand Victory, our favorite place to get trashed and boogie. Every month this party has grown a little bigger and more intense, this time around we expect we’ll lose control of it completely, so come help us and throw some inhibitions to the wind

HEAD ON – Business vs. Pleasure
HEAD ON is back after a brief break, and we’ll be at one of our favorite bars in Brooklyn: Williamsburg’s the Grand Victory–home of great parties thrown by our buddies like Feeling Gloomy and Release the Beast (and maybe the best bar staff in the city).
We figured we should either get real serious, or have some fun… so we’re doing both. This edition is going to be a battle between BUSINESS and (or) PLEASURE. Are you going to INDULGE or are you going to go to WORK? We can’t make up your minds for you, but the night will be filled with songs about making a dollar, rolling up your sleeves and doing some work / relaxin, enjoying life and its pleasurable pursuits.
As with every Head On, DJs Brian Blackout, Spoolwork, & Lepaux will be spinning appropriate indie, disco, house & electro all night long, and sometime around midnight two of us will square off on stage back to back long enough for you to decide who the winner is: BUSINESS or PLEASURE. The winning DJ gets a victory lap and the winning theme gets played the rest of the night. So get ready because…

Feeling Gloomy Goes Madchester
By popular demand, we’re finally paying homage to the birthplace of some of our favorite bands, genres, and record labels: Manchester. They gave us Joy Division, James, the Smiths, the Fall, the Stone Roses, and apparently the Bee Gees? They gave us the Hacienda, the Twisted Wheel, madchester, baggy, the list could go on and on.
So come out to Grand Victory on 5/16, where we will fill the air with Mancunian songs aplenty. We’ll have a contest to see who can name the most bands from Manchester (it could last a long time) and be sure to wear some Manchester gear to get in half off. As always we’ll dance to our favorite bands and forget our cares and our L train woes.
+ Enter our contest to name the most bands from Manchester, win prizes and the adulation of fellow trainspotters
+ Anyone wearing a Manchester United top or shirt emblazoned with the words Manchester somewhere large will get in half off. (i.e. if you wear a Mancunian band shirt you’ll look well cool but you’ll still pay a regular cover)
+ Your hosts DJs Gordon and Nathaniel Gloom playing every Mancunian band under the sun (that we like) along with the usual lot of synthpop, britpop, and depressingly danceable anglophilic classics
