Medina’s Magic (Originally “Magic” by Olivia Newton-John)

Released in 1980, the song was a moodier, but equally anthemic hit from the Xanadu soundtrack. Over the last decade, it’s evoked my memories of happier nights at the Metropolitan bar in Willliamsburg. There a tall, gentle psychic named Hank claimed this as his weekly karaoke theme. I believed him when he sang “You know that I will be kind…I’ll be guiding you.”

And so I was led to appreciate this song. Normally, I tend to avoid SoundCloud posts which aren’t downloadable, but Californian Cole Medina’s epic transformation is just too good to pass up. Despite it’s daunting 12-minute length, you will possibly be hypnotized by a series of loops until that soulful, squeaky-clean voice breaks the monotony. It’s a well-paced effect; disappearing and emerging, bringing all your dreams to life.
